On March 5th Cory's sweet Grandpa passed from this world surrounded by many of his loved ones, including his 5 children. Dr. David Cook was a very loving man who spent his life as a father, husband, and dentist. He spent a lot of his free time in service to others, especially when it came to his dental skills. He is an inspiration to our family, especially Cory as he prepares to follow in his footsteps and become a Dentist too.
It saddens us that he will not be here to see Cory graduate from Dental school, but at the same time, we know it was his time to go. He lived a long 85 years and touched many along the way. We had the opportunity to introduce our children to him a little less than a year ago. So thankful to have these photos, especially the following photo which is framed in our home.
Grandpa Cook is known for many things, but a few that stick out for Cory is his baked beans at their many campouts at Burney Falls and the many hours he played cribbage with him.
A few memories that stick out for me are watching him dance at both Kevin and Chrystal's wedding and our wedding. Boy was he full of life, even in his 80's. I also fondly remember celebrating his 80th birthday at Burney Falls 5 years ago (eating his famous baked beans too) and even playing a game of cribbage with him.
Grandpa Cook was Cory's mom's dad. I love this photo of the two of them. She loved him very much and I can see why. In a lot of ways they are very similar. Both have a heart for service. I know Cindy will carry on his legacy of service to others and will continue to share with the world the same love that Grandpa Cook shared everyday. We love you Grandpa and we pray that we can live the same spirit of service you lived! Thank you for richly blessing our lives and those lives of your children. You will be greatly missed by your family and friends.
Oh, and I can't leave out one of our last, but probably favorite memories of Grandpa Cook...watching him show us what he learned in his cane defense classes!
