This weekend Cory is taking his Regional Boards, the WREB. The clinical boards take place on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. He is required to fill two cavities, do two root-canals on extracted teeth, and one deep cleaning. It is his responsibility to find patients with the exact requirements and to make sure they show up.
The actual exam is not what causes sleepless nights or anxiety. It is the fear that your patient won't show up. Or that they will not be accepted when they do. If the examiner notices anything that does not meet the qualifications, the patient is denied and you have to find another patient or you could fail the boards. If they catch you not wearing a mask or the patient not wearing his/her safety glasses, automatic point deduction. Every move you make matters. Scary.
However, this also the moment these students have been waiting for since they entered into Dental school. This is the last requirement left to become a dentist. As long as Cory passes this exam, it will just be paperwork between him and his Dental license! So exciting.
Please keep Cory and all his classmates in your prayers this weekend. Pray he sleeps well these next few days. He has been having bad dreams of patients not showing up. Pray his patients not only show up, but also qualify. Also pray for his nerves. If you have time for more prayers, pray for me too this weekend as I sit at home anxiously awaiting to hear how he did. I feel my anxiety rising a bit too, but I am trying to keep cool to calm Cory down! :). Thank you all so much!
Good luck CORY!!! Praying for the arrival and acceptance of patients!
