Trotting like a turkey ;)

Today, I am so thankful for my family, my children, my health, my God, and for so much more. I will get to more of that later, but first I want to share about my first experience running a 10k.

Two girlfriends of mine invited me to start running with them in September. I was excited to start working out and running really is my thing. So we woke up at 5:30am three days a week and started running together. We made a goal to run a 10K in November. I never thought my body would be ready for this race, but sure enough, I made it ready.

We all signed up for the Turkey Trot, along with some husbands and another friend.  I was pretty nervous to run 6 miles, but somehow I managed.  My girlfriend Heather and I started off pretty fast zig zagging through the crowd of runners.  The first two miles were great, then mile 3 and 4 got a little rough.  Mile 4 was uphill the entire way.  As we rounded the first loop, I saw my sweet family cheering us on.

Poor Joey was so confused as to why I didn't stick around and hang out with them.  I guess the last part of the race he kept saying, mama? mama?  haha.  At least I know I am loved.

Cory caught some fun action shots of my friend Heather and I running :).

Out of no where, Cory comes running through the bushes screaming my name, holding the camera.  We couldn't stop laughing.  Such a funny guy.

Somehow, I managed to finish the race.  I was hoping to get around 60 minutes and I got just under 58 minutes :).   I checked my results online and was extremely confused why my results said just under 60 minutes.  I checked my bib and realized I had accidently switched my bib with another friend, therefore our running chips also got switched.  So she got my time/place and I got hers.  haha.  So according to the results she (I) got 10th place in my age division, and 66th of just over 150 runners.  I was pretty excited :).

Look who greeted me when I finished my race :).

Here is the whole group of us girls....
Here is one of the boys and girls. Please note I am the only one without their husband :(.  At least I had him there cheering me on :).
