4th of July....well lets be real, 3rd of July

We actually celebrated the 4th of July on the 3rd this year.  We went to the home of our good friends, Michael and Alyssa.  Our mutual friends Tyson and Theresa joined us.  We had such a great time.
All of us have children, a total of 4 under 2 years old :).  So we began the night with a bbq and pool playtime with the babies.  The boys and Genna all had fun in the pool and enjoyed a very yummy dinner.

Here is a sweet photo of Joey and Nathan watching the fish in the fish tank :).
Around 7:30 we put all the babies to bed so us adults could play some games.  Theresa was very pro-active and she prepared a night full of "minute-to-win-it" games for us to play.  They were rediculously fun!  We decided that we couldn't just play for fun, we had to have something to win.  So after collaborating for about 1 second :), we decided the winning team (we played couples vs couples) would get free overnight childcare and the losing team would be the ones to provide it :).  If you have children and you don't live near family, you know  how beneficial free childcare can be!  The games were intense!

We started off with bouncing pencils into 8 glasses.  It is much harder than it looks, but totally fun.  Cory and I took this one :).

Another event was stacking 7 ding-dongs on the forehead.  Much harder than you think.  We too took this one! (Funny, I only seem to have pics of the events we won, trust me, we definitely lost games).

Michael took this game very seriously :).

This game was impossible for us....we just gave up :).  You had to roll a toothbrush with two pieces of floss (I know, perfect game for cory) into a cup.  No one could do it. FAIL!

This game was fun. We had to blow all of the cards off the cup, except for the last card, the joker.  We won this one too :).

Note: we didn't win this one :).  This game required you to unstack and restack the cups in a minute.  We couldn't quite do it in a minute, so we just did best time.  Alyssa and I tied 2 different times and had to do some intense overtime rounds.  She won!

After all the games were done, we all finished within 1 point of each other! In fact, 2nd and 3rd place ended in a tie, so a tie-breaker had to take place.  After all was said and done, here are the results:

1st place: Tyson and Theresa
2nd place: Cory and Athena
3rd place: Michael and Alyssa

It was such a fun night.  We played till 11pm, which is late for a bunch of moms and dads whose babies wake up bright and early!  Oh well, it was totally worth it :).
