7 Quick Takes

1. Stay Away: All three kids have had colds....luckily they seem to be acting normal, other than our poor baby that is just miserable.  The biggest bummer is being stuck at home without any playdates, but that's okay, at least we have a swing set and backyard to play in....and Legos.  Seriously they play Legos all day long.

2. Vacation: We are one week away from a family vacation to see Joey's Godparents (he is so excited, me too).  We met them in Dental School, they were enrolled in the DO program and Pharmacy program.  Now that we are all done with school we take turns visiting each other every summer.  We will spend about 5 days in Quincy, CA.  Cannot wait.

3. AVA: 17 months now and so fun.  She is figuring out the world a bit and she is a joy to be around (except when sick).  Her current words: Bath, Yes Please, Hi, Hello.  She also loves to bark like a dog...and she has mooed like a cow and oinked like a pig.  She has the most adorable smile.  She loves to cuddle and wrestle with her siblings.  She also loves to look at you, smile, then say OW while simultaneously pulling your hair or scratching your arm.  Oh how we love her :).

4. GENEVIEVE: Almost 4.5 and turning into the sweetest girl.  She loves playing with her big brother.  She also makes friends at the park so easily.  She has a really goofy side to her but also a very serious side.  She likes to do preschool and is anxious to learn how to read.  She is still a busy body.  Sitting still is not one of her strengths :).  She really loves Jesus and has been asking a lot of questions about Him.  She played TBALL this year with Joey.  She was so cute.  A few highlights from her season:
-Slamming the bat to the ground after every hit.
-Giving the 3rd base coach a high five every time she reached 3rd base.  She always made him go higher and higher.
-When the coach on the first practice asked if anyone had ever played catch before, she turned around to me and "whispered/yelled" Mom, have we played Catch?  Obviously it was memorable when we had.
-Walking from third base to home.
-Dragging her pink helmet from third base to home
-Running in front of home plate while she was playing short stop and laying on her back and started making a dirt angel.   To which the other teams coach who was helping his batter prepare to hit yelled, "Man down, man down!"
-digging in the dirt and running in circles in the outfield.
Needless to say, we had an entertaining season.
I'm not so sure she was given her mommas love of the game....what happened? haha.

5. JOEY:  He is almost 6...when did that happen.  He is such a funny kid.  He makes me laugh all the time.  His conversations are so grown up and wise..and sometimes not wise.  He is much more focused on his hobbies which is great to watch.  His favorite thing to watch are bible stories...I swear he knows the bible stories better than me.  He is starting kindergarten next year.  A new stage for us.  We are so excited for him.  He has started reading already and is really good at math.  He came up to me last night to show me he has his first wiggly tooth.  I was surprisingly super excited....another first for this momma.  Joey is still the sweet, sensitive, patient boy.  He really is a good example of living life to the fullest and treating others with love.

6. Weekend Away: I'm taking off this weekend for a mom's weekend with a few girls from college.  I am excited to learn from these amazing moms who are all doing their best to follow God's will in their lives.  I know all the girls, but a few of them I barely know, so it should be fun to spend time with them and get to know them better.

7. Goodbyes: A few weeks ago we found out our priest was reassigned to a parish about 2.5 hours away.  We were so bummed because he has become one of our closest friends.  We will miss him tremendously.  He was ordained one year ago, on our wedding anniversary.  His influence has transformed our family.  He has helped us to understand the importance of family prayer and living out our faith in a deeper way.  We knew eventually he would have to leave, but it doesn't make it easier.  At the same time, we must look forward to so many great things God has in store for our family, for our parish, and for his new parishioners who will be gaining a great priest.
