Chronicles of Potty Training *UPDATE*

"I DID IT! I DID IT! I WENT POOP IN THE TOILET!" Those were the exact words that came out of Joey's mouth last night.  After 3 days of intense potty training and two days worth of holding "it" in, he finally went #2 in the potty.  I am not sure who was more excited, me or him, and he was SUPER excited.

How did we do it?  Well, he was so terrified to sit on the potty that we ended up getting a small potty.  Then to get him to just sit on the toilet I told him the only way he could watch cartoons was if he went poo or if he was sitting on the potty while watching them.  In the last two days I am pretty sure we sat for a cumulative of 4 hours.  But that is all he did, just sit there with a blanket over his legs.  So finally last night we took off his underwear and let him run around...then all of a sudden the urge to go became unbearable and he looked at me with wide eyes and I told him to sit on the toilet.  That is when the magic happened!

Just before Joey went, Genevieve (22 months) also went #2 on the toilet.  But she did it on her own.  I was talking to my mom on the phone and all of a sudden I look at her as she is leaning over the toilet clapping and saying "I did it, I did it."  Hahaha.  So she beat her big brother...maybe Christmas is an achievable goal for her.

How did we celebrate? We called Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles.   We also took a family trip to the dollar store where each kid picked out two toys.  Smiles were on all of our faces all night!  What a good day!  Here is to hoping for another successful day on the potty. :).
