I would like to introduce you to my "family" away from home. When we moved to Arizona almost 3 years ago, we were both extremely sad to leave all of our close family and friends. It is difficult to live so far away from the ones you love, but we were extremely blessed to meet such amazing people when we moved here. My first year I became a part of a group of women who formed a bible study/support group for wives who have husbands in the medical field (doctors, dentists, optometrists, physical therapy, OT, PA, etc). This group has been such a lifesaver for me.
The girls in this group come from all different faiths and backgrounds, although we are almost all Christian. Some of us have children, others do not. Either way, we support and care for each other. If one girl is in need, we reach out to help them. If someone needs meals, we make them. If someone needs childcare, we watch their children. When I went to the hospital, one of our dear friends Alyssa and Michael watched Joseph for 4 days! As hard as it is being away from home, it is comforting to know we have such kind, loving friends like these families.
The other day we had a BBQ to celebrate the end of the year and to bring our families together. I have posted several pics to show you:
