The last few days Joey has woken from his naps with a happy smile....but that only lasted for about two seconds and then he would become Mr. Fus Bus. The only thing that quieted his whines was to chew on anything in sight. I had no idea why Joey was getting so fussy during the day, even though all the signs for teething were there:
Drooling, fussiness, diarrhea (sorry if that was too much), chewing on toys, fingers, furniture, etc...
I was convinced he was not teething. Why you ask? Because in Cory's family, the boys do not get teeth until they are almost 1 year old. So I had pretty much convinced myself that Joey would follow in his daddy's footsteps.
So imagine my surprise when I was doing my best to make a fussy baby smile last night and I decided to put my finger in his mouth and feel his bottom gums. I felt something sharp. After a few seconds of prying his mouth open and shoving his tongue to the side, I saw the top of the tooth....Joey CUT his first tooth! According to Cory, the Dental student, he cut tooth letter "O."
Apparently baby teeth are identified by letters.
It was a bittersweet moment. I was sad to say goodbye to the toothless smile, but happy because it was a new milestone and because I finally understood why he had been so fussy lately. So far, it has only messed with his naps, but he is still sleeping 12 hours at night, so I can't complain.
As soon as the tooth pops up more I will try to get a picture to share with you all. Thanks for sharing in our exciting news!
Thats O- mazing! He will fit in great down south. Teeth are overrated.
ReplyDeleteThere was an add for gold teeth at 150$ for two.
Hope you are all well!
James is going through the fussy, not-going-to-take-a-nap-unless-I'm-being-held phase, chewing on everything and is a total drool monster. I think he'll pop a tooth here soon too.
