On Monday my friend Alyssa, her 6 month old Caden, myself, and Joey went on a 3.5 hour car ride to Kingman, AZ (northeast corner of Arizona, 1 hour southeast of Las Vegas). Alyssa's in-laws live there and we were aching for an adventure. So, we packed the car up and took off. Our ride there was going really well, until the last 45 minutes. Did you know that Joey is very frightened of loud noises? Well he is. Did you also know that Caden's cry is considered a loud noise? Well it is. Joey was getting fussy, and Caden started to cry. He has a high pitched scream, which Joey does not like. He started screaming so loud. It was sad and funny at the same time. There was nothing we could do to calm him down. I tried singing, making goofy noises, funny faces, etc, but he was too mad to stop. Once I could pick him up it took him awhile to calm down. After this happend a few times we came up with a game plan. Caden has to be asleep before I can put Joey in the car. If he is asleep then Joey will not freak out. The rest of the trip went perfectly well :).
We were adventerous once we got to Kingman. We first traveled on the famous Route 66 to Oatman, Az. It is an old mining town that has Burro's roaming the streets, unfortunately, none were in sight when I was there (so no pics). The next day we went to Lake Havasu and walked along the water. This made me miss Washington so much. I love the water. I feel so close to God and I just felt a strong sense of Joy. We enjoyed spending time with Alyssa's husbands family. He is in a family of 8 children, 5 of which were home. It was fun chatting with his sisters and brothers. Alyssa is a dear friend and I am so grateful for her taking me on this trip. It was fun to get away from Phoenix and explore AZ. Both Joey and I were excited to get home and see Cory though! Enjoy the pics below of the trip.
