One in a MILLION!

I know this is a little late, but better late than never. A few weeks ago we celebrated my 24th birthday. Joey was only 3 weeks old, so we didn't celebrate the way we normally do by going out to eat or going bowling, or anything like that. This year was special; we had our friends Amy and Erik over for the afternoon.

Amy and Erik are our good friends from college. Amy and I were roommates freshman year of college and have been close friends ever since. They just got married and I had the honor of being one of her bridesmaids. Shortly after their marriage and Hawaiian honeymoon, they moved to Phoenix! Amy has been such a great friend throughout the years. I have many great friends, but Amy is one of those who really stands out and here are a few reasons why.

1. When I was planning my wedding she was so helpful. None of my bridesmaides were in town, so she went dress shopping with me and went to all of my fittings. She always had her camera ready to take a picture and I could always count on her to give me honest feedback :). She did all of this so enthusiastically and you could tell she truly loved doing this.

2. I can always count on getting a card in the mail from her for every holiday. Even holidays I didn't know existed :). She also sends cards for every special moment in my life...and if I don't get a card, I get a phone call or email. She is the MOST thoughtful person I know and she puts me to shame with her thoughtfulness.

3. She makes a great effort to remember every detail of your life. She remembers things about friends of mine she does not know and makes an effort to ask me about those friends.

4. When I am having a bad day or I am really stressed she senses that and will come over to ease my pain. The day Joey got circumcised I was very stressed out for several reasons. She had called to see how my day was (which she does almost everyday) and she could tell I was struggling. She immediately asked if I would like her to come over after work and make me dinner and keep me company while cory was at work. Instead of going home to her husband, she made time for me and comforted me. Not everyone is as compassionate as she is and I am so blessed to have her in my life.

5. She recognized that my birthday was going to be low key and that I did not have many opportunities to leave the apartment....so for my birthday she took me to get a pedicure and she made cupcakes for us to eat. Her husband came with her and we all played games and ate pizza. It was such a fun night and made my 24th birthday one to remember.

I could go on and on about Amy, but the point is, I am always thinking about how blessed I am to have such a loving, thoughtful and caring friend. Amy, if you are reading this, thank you so much for your friendship. I am so grateful to have you living in Arizona and I am looking forward to all of the fun we will have together.

Here are some pictures from my birthday:
