7 Quick Takes

1. 4 kids:  The last few days we have been figuring out what life with 4 littles is like.  It has had its ups and downs, but mostly ups.  The first week we had a ton of family support, so I wasn't on my own and was able to sleep and rest my body.  Can I just say I wish I had done this with the other three kids.  It felt so good and this week I'm not doing too bad.  I would say the toughest thing was going to Mass on Sunday.  Ava is in a very busy and loud stage, so we definitely are full of excitement in our pew :).  Oh well, they are our path to holiness.

2. Lucia:  So far, after 6 weeks, she has been the best baby.  I'm waiting for her to take a turn and suddenly cry a lot.  But seriously she hardly cries...we aren't sure if she knows how.  The other night I was talking with Cory's brother and I heard this loud screech.  My first reaction was to say, "Is that a cat?"  We don't even have a cat, the possibility of that noise being a cat was slim to none, yet that was my first reaction because Lucia does not cry....in my mind it was more likely a cat than her crying.  She is a great eater, sleeper, and just so peaceful and content.  We adore her, the kids can't stop kissing her, and Ava would like it if we gave her Lucia to be her own personal doll.

3. Travel Trailer:  A month ago we made a purchase.  We got a used Hybrid Trailer for camping (mix between a regular trailer and a pop up tent trailer).  We are so excited to get lots of camping in this summer.  I am so done sleeping in tents, so I felt this was a good compromise.

4. Meals: The moms group from our church put together a meal train for us, so we had about 8 meals made for us.  What a blessing that was.  We felt pretty grateful that I could just take care of the kids while Cory was at work and not worry about making dinner.

5. Ava: My dad has recently nicknamed her "Tarzan baby," which is pretty darn accurate.  She has been so stinking cute lately.  Listening to her speak is the best.  She is always singing and chatting our ears off.  Recently she learned Cory's name and now will walk around saying "Hi Cory."  It cracks us up.  Some of her favorite phrases are, "Hug you," "No thank you," (which she says to just about every request we have for her..."Hold my hand....No Thank YOU!"  Okay back to her phrases, "I watch Daniel Tiger," "I'm happy," "I'm tired," "Play outside," "Good Morning Mom (this is said at anytime of the day)" I'm sure there are many more, but I don't want to bore you.

6. Genevieve: This 5 year old has matured so much.  Lucia came along and suddenly she is so easy going and an amazing helper.  I rarely see her complain and she is always willing to help me with something.  I really enjoy spending time with her.  Gen really enjoys anything crafty.  She loves to help in the kitchen.  She will even crack eggs into a bowl and then help us make scrambled eggs.  Last weekend she started her second season of tball.  She is enjoying it and I just love watching her play.

7. Joey: This man told me the other day he is tired of having sisters :).  However, I know that is not true because he adores them.  His sister Gen is his best bud.  They play so well together it is kind of crazy.  Rarely do they fight.  Joey is so gentile and compromising.  I'm impressed by his selflessness at this age.  This season he is busy with sports.  He is on a soccer team and a baseball team.  Call us crazy.  luckily it will all be over in 5 weeks :).  He loves it.  In fact, he scored his first soccer goal on Saturday!

And because who does not just love an iphone photo dump...here you go :)

Joey came in and asked for the camera because his sisters were being so cute and we needed a picture of them :).

My sisters alternated weekends and visited us....Tara we never took a photo when you were here!

  1. I adore Joey's sweetness towards his sisters! Fun family photo! Silas (our 2.5 year old) sometimes says, 'Urn' for my name 'Erin' if he doesn't think I have heard him, ha! Reminds me of Ava. You are amazing Athena!!
