Sea....Hawks!

Sunday was such a celebration for the Gaunt family.  To say we are Seahawk fans is a huge understatement.  My dad has been a Hawks fan from the very beginning.  He has watched/listened to every game and been a loyal follower, even through the many years of losing seasons.  By default, I too became a hawks fan.

Cory's family grew up in the Bay area, but quickly converted to Hawks fans after moving to Spokane many years ago.  Today, Cory and his brother are avid followers, reading blogs, wearing particular shirts each week before the games, watching/listening to every sports talk show around.

I'll never forget during preseason seeing a paper with every players name written down, their position written down, and notes about how they played.  Can you say obsessive?  Cory calls it his hobby :).

Either way, you get the point.   We love the Seahawks and making it to the Super Bowl was monumental for this family.  9 years ago we made it and lost a close game to the Steelers.  It was heart breaking to say the least.  We wondered when and if we would make it back again.  Then Pete Carroll joined the Seahawks and created an amazing team.  They are so incredibly spirited and full of belief in themselves.  It has been exciting to watch.   This team is something special, that is for sure.
Seahawk pancakes!

On Sunday, our families gathered together to watch this epic game.  We decorated the house with Hawk Blue and Green, everyone brought appetizers to share, and we had motivating signs posted through out the house.  EVERYONE was dressed in Blue and Green, and the energy was high.

The screaming, laughing, and celebrating didn't stop from the first snap (safety) to the last snap of the game.  Things just went our way.  It was unbelievable.  Tears were shed, hugs were handed out over and over again, and smiles lasted the entire night.

After everyone left our house was trashed, but honestly, it didn't matter.  I woke up the next morning with a huge smile on my face, because the mess reminded me of the fun we all had.  It reminded me of the memory that was created, one that will stick out for all of us for the rest of our lives.  Our beloved Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl XLVIII Champions!  We are the BEST football team in the Country.  The best part of all this?  We were able to watch it as a family, and enjoy this moment together.  Some may say sports are a waste of time, but for us, it is an activity that bonds us all together and brings joy to each of us!

Thank you Seahawks for an incredible season!  We have been with you through thick and thin and you can count on our support for years to come! Sea....Hawks!
