In two weeks baby Genevieve will make her grand debut! My due date is January 26th, but we are getting induced on the 25th. Why you might ask? Well for a few reasons.
1. I don't think I will even make it to my due date. I went early with Joey (3 days) and I think there is a good chance I could go a few days early with this one.
2. Joey weighed 9lbs. 6oz and if we wait too long, we worry that this baby could get big. I don't want to get stuck in a situation where I can't deliver her because she is too big. I would prefer not to have a C-Section. Obviously I would if there was an emergency, but I would prefer to have her vaginally.
3. Family is coming on the 28th so it would be nice for the baby to be here when they arrive :). This last one is just for fun, but it is a plus.
So, what I am trying to say is: The countdown is on....15 days or less until baby Genevieve is here!
Yaaay! I can't wait! You better post pics from the hospital :). Remember the advice McKernan gave to start labor with Joey? Maybe do that and she'll come sooner :)
ReplyDeleteI just can't wait for you to have your little girl. I've already mastered the whole schedule combination for our three, so if you need a little help, let me know :)
Hey Athena,
ReplyDeleteyou might want to be a bit more cautious with induction. I was induced with Clare a week after her due date but it didn't take. They put me on pitocin and I started contracting, but not on my own. They also broke my water because that usually helps with contractions, but it didn't. Clare just wasn't ready to come. But after they break your water you're pretty much stuck. So I had to have a c-section after 11 hours of contractions that weren't my own and no dilation. I just want to let you know because c-sections aren't fun to recover from and they could also restrict how many children you'll be able to have. Since I've had 2 c sections now (not by choice), docs say that it'll start to get dangerous after 4 kids. So just be careful. You could always just try to exercise more and watch it the last couple of weeks to make sure Genevieve isn't gigantic or something. :)

ReplyDeleteUsually I don't put in my 2 cents, but I had the same situation as Val, but my high BP sent us in for an induction a few days before his due date, and after being induced 2 times (the 1st didn't work), things went as Val described and we went in for a C-section too.
I have heard positive stories about being induced too, so don't just listen to us, but it is good to know the flip side as well.
You are all in our prayers! Can't wait to see that little girl!
Hey! I'm with Anna and don't usually comment on baby related matter (because we all have our own good way of doing things!) but be really careful about inducing for other than life threatening medical reasons. If it's because she will be too big know 2 things: 1) you already deleivered a big baby and another one will fit and 2) baby weight estimates can be off by almost 2 lbs. Max was estimated at 7lbs but came out at 9lbs 3 oz! Of course C-section is a viable and life saving option (praise the Lord) but should always be used as a last resort. If she isn't ready to come when you induce you will most likely end up with a c-section. (Just a lot of things we learned from our Bradely classes.) But we will definitely be praying for you as the big day nears - that God will give you the grace to make the best decisions for your family! We are so excited for you!
