What have we been up to? I don't even know... Time has flown by since we had Joey...so I thought I would reflect and give an update on what we are all up to :).
Cory: He has been very busy in his second year of Dental school. He is approaching finals soon and has been going non-stop since he came back from Christmas break. Cory is also the president of the Catholic Club on campus, so he has been working hard to plan and organize events with the club. He is getting a bit burned out on school, so prayers for him would be great! He is excited to be a dentist, but wishes school would move a little quicker :).
Cory as also joined the order Opus Dei...as a Cooperator. A cooperator is considered as a non-members who works with Opus Dei in some way, such as praying, helping financially, or providing some other assistance. He would have liked to become a supernumerary, but to do that, he would have to live near a numerary to go through spiritual direction for a year, and the closest one is in San Francisco. He was bummed to hear that news, but has enjoyed participating in monthly meetings with other Opus Dei members. His prayer services include mediations and gospel readings. I will have Cory post more about this for those interested.
Athena: I have also been busy taking care of Cory, Joey, and the house. I absolutely love staying at home and watching Joey go through each new milestone. I do not regret making the decision to stay home. Joey brings so much joy to our life. I have been working on little projects throughout the week to keep myself busy. I get together with friends to go on walks and I get together with my grandparents who live in Scottsdale. Running has also been a part of my life in the past few weeks. I try to run everyday when Cory gets home from class. It gives Cory an opportunity to have one on one time with Joey and allows me to have some alone time. I love it :). In fact, stay tuned, because I am running my first 5K since high school! The best part about it is I am running the race at the ZOO!
Joseph: Joey has been changing so much. He is rolling all over the place and making lots of new noises. His newest thing is bedtime. He used to go right to sleep without much noise, but lately he has been talking and laughing in his crib for almost an hour and then he crashes for the night. Sometimes he rolls onto his stomach and cries because he is stuck (even though he can roll back over). The good news is he has been sleeping for 12 hours since he was 3 months old! We love it :). He always goes down between 7:30-8:00, which gives mommy and daddy time together. He is not the best napper...but as long as he sleeps at night, I am good.
Life has been going pretty well for us. We have our good days and our not so good days...but we survive. Living in Arizona has been a lot of fun and we are enjoying the beautiful sunny days. Although Cory is a busy student, we find time to get out and enjoy ourselves. We are so thankful God brought us here. We miss our family and friends in Washington, but we have made so many wonderful friends in Arizona and are having so much fun in a new place. I love the adventure of it all :). We just Trust in God and enjoy the ride!
Dear Gaunt Family:
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about you all a LOT lately! I was so glad to read this update!
Cory: Hang in there! I know how school can really burn a student out, but I also know that you can do it! I am really proud of you! And way to go with Opus Dei. I remember when you first got interested in that order, and am so proud to watch you continue to pursue your vocation in that manner!
Athena: You sound so happy to spend your days with the babe. It makes me excited to have my own little ones someday! And way to go on getting your “me time” while running. That’s such a great way to show yourself some self-love, which all moms certainly need!
Baby Joseph: You are adorable! I can’t wait to meet you when I visit the West Coast! Try and let Mommy and Daddy worship at Mass, OK? You'll get it later on in life, I promise!
Love to you all,
Molly
