First ultrasound...

On Wednesday I went to my first ultrasound. Unfortunately, Cory was not able to come with me because of school. However, my dear friend Alyssa offered to come with me. Alyssa is my neighbor/friend here in Arizona. About two weeks after we found out we were pregnant, she found out she was too! It has been fun to share in this experience together.

The ultrasound was so amazing! I was somewhat annoyed though because as the tech was taking all the measurements, the screen was faced at an angle that I just could not see. She was measuring my uterus and I just wanted her to tell me the baby was there. Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime, she showed me our little gummy-bear (our nickname for the baby because that is what he/she looked like in his/her first picture). My favorite part about the experience was hearing the heart beat. WOW!! It was so amazing to hear the life inside of me. I am already in love with this baby.

At the time of the ultrasound, the doctors thought I was 9 weeks, but according to the official measurements, I was put back a week. Officially, today I am 9 weeks pregnant. Our due date is August 31, 2009! I am not looking forward to spending my third trimester in 120 degree weather...haha...oh well, I will do it out of love :). The good news is I am in a wedding in Seattle on July 18th, so I will get to escape the heat for a short time. My wonderful friend and roommate from my Freshman year, Amy McMahon is getting married. I am so excited for her and glad she still wanted me in her wedding when I would be almost 8 months pregnant :).

Well, that is it for now. As soon as I can figure out how to get our scanner to work I will post pictures of Baby Gaunt. Peace and love to you all!

  1. I'm so glad the ultrasound when well! Eric wasn't able to come to my first one, either. Isn't hearing the heartbeat the greatest? At every appointment I get anxious until I hear the heartbeats.

  2. So exciting...and the best news is that the baby starts looking more and more like a BABY than an alien (or gummy bear or bean...)!
